Points vs Pips on the Dow
Forex traders coming to indices often ask where the pips are. On US30 there are none in the forex sense: the market moves in whole points, and one point is the unit you count. At roughly one dollar per point per standard lot, the value is easy to picture, which is part of why the Dow is a popular first index.
The number to confirm is the point value, because a few brokers quote US30 in fractional contracts or a different currency, which changes what a point is worth. Once you know your point value, size from the stop in points just as you would size a forex trade from a stop in pips.
